Today is Nollaig na mBan and the “official” end of Christmas. But what is Women’s Christmas? Here in Ireland, it’s a day for getting your decorations down and has long been recognised as a day for celebrating the contribution of Irish women to society. It started as a day of rest for many women after the Christmas rush and many would gather in pubs or homes while men stayed at home. thejournal.ie/nollaig-na-mban-whats-that-all-about-3172312-Jan2017
Instead of heading to the pub my Nollaig na mBan entailed going for a very leisurely breakfast with my daughter followed by a lovely walk in Howth with the two doggies. The drawing above is the lighthouse at Howth and the cutest lighthouse in existence I wager. I always treat myself to some tuna steaks from one of the many fishmongers before returning home to take down the decorations.
